Curso Cine y conflicto político

In recent years, film has become the most artistic genre important in shaping the political imaginary. From a disciplinary perspective, the course aims to give students the theoretical tools needed to understand the political importance of aesthetics and could be applied to film analysis. The course will analyze various films and work with different readings.

The sessions will be borne by Turrión Pablo Iglesias, a professor of political science at the Universidad Complutense, laying his doctorate in 2008 with a thesis on the forms of collective action movements against economic globalization. After graduating in Law (2001) and Political Science (2004, with honors) was visiting researcher at several universities in Latin America, Europe and the U.S.. He has also undertaken courses in the specialty film cultural analysis of the graduate program in humanities at the University Carlos III of Madrid, courses of short films School of Arts and philosophy of the media at the European Graduate School (Switzerland) where he has been a student of film directors like Elia Suleiman, or the Brothers Quay and cultural theorists such as Michael Shapiro, Jacques Rancière and Slavoj Zizek , among others.
